About Sootheababy & Sootheamuma
Welcome to the Sootheababy and Sootheamuma Massage Therapies website.
Sootheababy was started by me, Sarah Syms in 2017 when I felt a need for greater nurturing for mums through their pregnancy & Postnatal journey. I am a registered practising midwife, massage therapist, nursery nurse, certified infant massage Instructor and mum, with over 30 years experience working with children & families. Alongside me is Louise, my midwife/massage therapist colleague, who joins me in providing our mobile massage therapy service.
As fully qualified Massage therapists, through Sootheamuma Massage Therapies Louise & I offer bespoke aromatherapy massage treatments for Mums & Mums-to-be. Following a detailed consultation we will blend oils to your specific needs and tailor your massage to your requirements.
I also offer baby massage classes, as it is a wonderful experience for both parent and child. Spend some precious bonding time with your baby and enjoy the relaxation that comes with massaging your baby.
Courses can be delivered One to One, with a friend or as part of a small group course all in the comfort of your own home.
My baby massage teaching qualification is fully accredited by The Royal College of Midwives, Federation of Antenatal Educators, Independent Professional Therapists International, and International Institute for Complementary Therapies.
Founder & CEO
My name is Sarah Syms and I run Sootheababy and Sootheamuma Massage Therapies. As a practicing NHS midwife I enjoy working with and caring for families in pregnancy through antenatal clinics, during birth on labour ward and as a member of the community homebirth team, and postnatally when visiting mums and new babies at home. I have a passion for information sharing and, as well as my work within the NHS, I also work alongside my midwife colleagues teaching antenatal classes as part of the ABumpsABaby team & I am a qualified KG hypnobirthing teacher. (www.ABumpsABaby.com).
Baby massage was one of the first activities I did with my son and for many years it provided a calming haven for both of us to return to when times were busy or fraught. Through my work as a nursery nurse and later as a midwife I have become increasingly passionate about empowering families so that they can gain the maximum enjoyment from family life. Training to become a certified baby massage instructor was a natural extension to my midwifery work. In 2017, I qualified with my Diploma in Massage Therapy, with Anatomy and Physiology, which has enabled me to provide tailored aromatherapy massage treatments for mums and mums to be. I am Fedant registered and insured, and I am enhanced DBS checked.
Midwife & Massage Therapist
My name is Louise Davey. I am a registered Midwife and have been working as a Community Midwife in West Sussex for over 10 years. I am also an Antenatal Educator and qualified KG Hypnobirthing teacher, and have the privilege of teaching antenatal classes alongside my midwifery colleagues on the ABumpsABaby team. Throughout my Midwifery career I have always been a strong advocate for treating a person holistically and in the healing power of touch. The benefits of Massage are both well documented and evidence based. Massage has been proven to be effective in reducing discomfort and anxiety, promoting restful sleep, reducing swelling and stimulating circulation. Therefore, training as a Massage Therapist seemed a natural fit for me and in 2018, I trained as a CIBTAC qualified Massage Therapist. I am both Fedant registered and insured and I am also enhanced DBS checked. I am proud to work alongside my friend and colleague Sarah Syms, and we are now able to offer an enhanced massage treatment service to pregnant and postnatal clients. I am fully mobile and able to offer you treatments in the comfort of your own home at a mutually convenient time.
