Sarah Syms

Midwife, Massage Therapist & Reflexologist

Having worked for the NHS for 20 years and as a Nursery Nurse for 18 years before that, I am passionate about information sharing and supporting women through their journey into and through motherhood.  Creating Sootheababy in 2017 has enabled me to give time, support and nurturing that helps women enhance their wellness in pregnancy, prepare for birth and recover well in the postnatal period. With massage therapies I can ease discomfort, create balance in the body and foster confidence in our amazing bodies. With our massage and reflexology treatments I also use appropriate aromatherapy oils, acupressure techniques and biomechanics for birth techniques. I am also a qualified hypnobirthing teacher and baby wearing peer supporter.

As part of my Sootheababy work I am certified infant massage instructor. Teaching this wonderful skill to parents gives me great joy and has enabled me to provide additional support and confidence to hundreds of families. I also work with my midwifery colleagues teaching ABumpsABaby Antenatal Classes (www.ABumpsABaby.com ).

Louise Davey

Midwife, Massage Therapist & Reflexologist

I am a registered Midwife and have been working as a Community Midwife in West Sussex for over 10 years. I am also an Antenatal Educator and qualified KG Hypnobirthing teacher, and have the privilege of teaching antenatal classes alongside my midwifery colleagues on the ABumpsABaby Antenatal Classes team (www.ABumpsABaby.com). Throughout my Midwifery career I have always been a strong advocate for treating a person holistically and in the healing power of touch. The benefits of Massage are both well documented and evidence based. Massage has been proven to be effective in reducing discomfort and anxiety, promoting restful sleep, reducing swelling and stimulating circulation. Therefore, training as a Massage Therapist seemed a natural fit for me and in 2018 I trained as a CIBTAC qualified Massage Therapist, I am also a qualified Reflexologist. I am both Fedant registered and insured and I am also enhanced DBS checked. I am proud to work alongside my friend and colleague Sarah Syms, and we are now able to offer an enhanced massage treatment service to pregnant and postnatal clients. I am fully mobile and able to offer you treatments in the comfort of your own home at a mutually convenient time.

Lisa Jury

Midwife and Infant Massage Instructor

I have been a midwife for over 30 years, and currently I work as a community midwife.

I live in Mid Sussex with my son and twin daughters, and I enjoy baking cakes and walking in my spare time.

I have a passion for empowering women and wanted to be able to give them something extra during their journey into parenthood. To enable me to do that I trained and qualified as a certified infant massage instructor in 2023.

Melanie Sanders

Retired Midwife and Craniosacral Therapist

I have been in the caring profession my entire working life, a career of 40 years initially as a nurse and then a Midwife for over 20 years.

An interest in alternative therapies led me to train as a Reiki therapist initially, but I wanted a deeper understanding of how our bodies work, so I invested in a year of study to achieve a diploma in Craniosacral therapy in 2019.

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands on therapy that can be used to help babies and adults who are experiencing discomfort or have other issues related to their craniosacral system. This system includes the bones, tissues and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

During craniosacral treatment the practitioner will use a light touch to assess the bones and tissues of the baby's head , spine and pelvis. The goal is to release any restrictions or tension that may be causing discomfort or affecting the baby's development.

CST is safe and non-invasive, and it can be used for a variety of issues that babies may experience, including colic, reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, sleep problems and developmental delays. It can also be used to support the baby's overall health and wellbeing.

CST is suitable for all from new born to the elderly. One of my clients describes it as 'recharging her battery', it gives a moment of calm and restoration in our otherwise hectic lives.
